2 x 3 macht 4 - Time for the US Census

On 1. April 2010, 10 years will have passed since the last US Census - the counting of the population in the USA - and it'll be time to count again. The Census is important to determine how many people live in a community and what races form that population. Government money for education, infrastructure, the integration of immigrants (especially those of Hispanic origin), etc. is distributed using these numbers, so if only 30% of people in a community send back their forms instead of the average 72%, numbers will certainly be off and that community will miss out on government money. The Census was established to count everybody living permanently in the USA - legal or illegal, doesn't matter.

We just received the form, filled it out in 2 minutes and put it back in the mail. I'll now be officially counted as part of the US population! I like it!!! :)

Am 1. April 2010 ist es 10 Jahre her, dass die Bevoelkerung der USA gezaehlt wurde und es ist daher an der Zeit erneut zu zaehlen. Die Volkszaehlung ist wichtig um herauszufinden, wieviele Menschen in einer Gemeinde leben und aus welchen Rassen sie besteht. Staatsgelder fuer das Schulwesen, die Infrastruktur, die Integration von Einwanderern (besonders der hispanischer Herkunft) etc. werden anhand dieser Zaehlung verteilt. Senden also nur 30% der Einwohner einer Gemeinde anstelle der durchschnittlich 72% das Formular zurueck, werden die Nummern definitiv von der Realitaet abweichen und die Gemeinde wird weniger staatliche Gelder zugeteilt bekommen. Der Zensus findet statt um jeden zu zaehlen, der dauerhaft in den USA wohnt - legal oder illegal spielt dabei keine Rolle.

Wir haben unser Zensus Formular gerade erhalten. In 2 Minuten war es ausgefuellt und nun ist es bereits in der Post auf dem Weg zurueck. Ich werde damit nun also offiziell als Teil der US-Bevoelkerung gezaehlt. Das gefaellt mir!!! :)
